Dining at Alderwild

ORCHARD

Rooted in the valley and shaped by the seasons, ORCHARD serves relaxed New American cooking with vegetables from our kitchen garden, thoughtful wines, and cocktails built for the mountain air. Settle beside the hearth, wander through the beds, or take a table facing the ridge. Breakfast, lunch, brunch, and dinner welcome both overnight and local guests.

The room moves easily from first coffee to a late bottle shared by the fire. Menus stay grounded in familiar pleasures while following what the growers, orchard, and nearby farms can offer that week.

Walk-ins are kept for spontaneous plans, and the bar remains a comfortable place to begin or finish the evening. Dietary needs are happiest with a little advance notice so the kitchen can prepare with care.

Meet Chef

Marisol Vega

Raised between a family garden and a busy neighborhood kitchen, Chef Marisol brings a practical warmth to Alderwild. Her cooking combines open-fire technique, carefully sourced produce, and the generous flavors she learned at home.

Changing weather sets the rhythm. Spring herbs, late-summer tomatoes, orchard fruit, and winter roots become food that feels direct, welcoming, and quietly celebratory.

Marisol began cooking beside relatives who treated the table as the center of the day. After years in small city dining rooms, she returned to the mountains with a preference for open flames, bright sauces, and ingredients that still taste distinctly of where they grew.

Her team meets with the garden crew each morning. Tender leaves may appear at lunch, sturdy stems become stock, and fruit that is too ripe for the dining room is folded into preserves, shrubs, and desserts. The collaboration keeps the menu alert without making it feel complicated.

The kitchen also maintains close relationships with regional dairies, grain growers, fishermen, and livestock farms. Those conversations shape portions and preparations as much as the season does, allowing whole ingredients to be used with purpose and waste to stay low.

For Marisol, hospitality begins before a plate reaches the table. It is the warmth of the room, the pace of a meal, and the confidence that there will be something generous for every guest. Her food is intended to feel memorable without asking anyone to study it first.

“A good table gives the day a place to land.”

Reservations

Tables are released 30 days before the dining date. Reservations are strongly recommended for both overnight and visiting guests.

If your preferred time is not listed, join the local waitlist. Same-day openings appear often.

For last-minute availability, contact the guest team at +1 (518) 555-0174. Corkage is $28 per bottle, with a two-bottle limit.

Large tables are limited so the room can retain its relaxed pace. Parties of seven or more should contact the events team, who can suggest a shared menu and the setting that best suits the occasion.

Guests staying on property may ask the front desk to coordinate dinner with arrival, a treatment, or another part of the day. Visiting diners should allow a little extra time to walk the grounds before their table.

Cancellations made close to service may carry a per-person charge when the table cannot be filled. The exact terms are shown with every request before it is confirmed.

Events & Spaces

ORCHARD offers several settings for private meals and gatherings: a window-lined dining room, a low-lit hearth lounge, and a broad deck facing the ridge. Each space can shift from a quiet dinner to a larger celebration while keeping the relaxed character of the house.

Menus are composed for the season and served in a style that suits the group, from a long-table supper to a standing reception. Flowers, tableware, sound, and timing can be coordinated with trusted regional partners.

The events team can also arrange a welcome evening, farewell brunch, or a series of smaller meals across a weekend. Every proposal begins with the shape of the gathering and the way guests should feel in the room.
